The Sustainable Development Council of Sri Lanka (SDCSL) and SLYCAN Trust Global entered into a formal partnership

The Sustainable Development Council of Sri Lanka (SDCSL) and SLYCAN Trust Global entered into a formal partnership to promote policy oriented research, education and awareness creation, capacity-building and advocacy to support the implementation of activities that advance the achievement of the SDGs by Sri Lanka mainly through promoting sustainable finance innovations.

The SDCSL recently established a formal collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Sri Lanka Bank’s Association Sustainable Banking Initiative (SLBA SBI) to leverage the strengths of local Private and the non-profit sectors to support Sri Lanka’s initiatives on sustainable finance linked to sustainable recovery and long-term development as well as to explore opportunities to leverage new sustainable finance structures and instruments that could enhance greater public-private partnerships.

SLYCAN Trust Global brings forth considerable expertise gained through its work on policy oriented research linking Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Loss & Damage and mobilizing multi-actor partnerships on Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and InsuResilience.

The formal collaboration is expected to promote research and knowledge generation, facilitate the conduct of awareness sessions and capacity building programmes relating to alternative and innovative financing for SDG acceleration and work towards strengthening cross sectoral collaboration and coordination and multi-stakeholder engagement in sustainable financing initiatives including through establishing linkages to regional and global platforms and networks.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Director General of the Sustainable Development Council Ms. Chamindry Saparamadu and the Executive Director of the SLYCAN Trust Global, Ms.Vositha Wijenayake at the SDCSL premises today. Senior officials from both institutions also participated in the event.
