Innovation is a critical enabler of sustainable development and as such, earlier this year, the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) entered into a formal partnership with the National Innovation Agency - Sri Lanka (NIA) for purposes of coordinating the development and improvement of the national innovation ecosystem in line with the Sri Lanka Innovation and Entrepreneurship Strategy.
NIA, SDC and the The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce(CCC) met today to explore opportunities for potential investment and financing opportunities linked to the B2P platform developed by NIA. The B2P platform provides a unique information-sharing and trading platform for research, inventions and business models stemming from research and inventions from Sri Lankan institutions and individuals or teams. The platform would be supporting entrepreneur development by actively bringing opportunities for investment to attention. The discussion highlighted the need of commercialization research and innovations, as inventors are not necessarily investors.
The meeting was held between Prof. Ajith de Alwis, Chief Innovation Officer of NIA, Ms. Chamindry Saparamadu, Director General of SDC, Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa, Chairman of CCC and other officials of the three institutions.
