Sri Lanka’s delegation to the 10th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development held discussions with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, (UNESCAP) and the Under-Secretary-General of the UN, Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana in Bangkok, Thailand.

During the meeting, State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe apprised the Executive Secretary of the current macro-economic and fiscal reforms initiated by the government and also appreciated ESCAP support extended to Sri Lanka in a number of areas including innovative financing for SDGs, women entrepreneurship training etc. The discussions focused on future areas of cooperation including digitalization, broadening the social safety nets and better targeting of social protection floors, alternative financing, and promoting private sector actions on SDGs.

From Sri Lanka, the State Minister of Finance, Hon.Shehan Semasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Thailand and Permanent Representative to ESCAP, HE Chaminda Colonne, Director General of the Sustainable Development Council, Chamindry Saparamadu, and Deputy Permanent Representative to ESCAP, A.W.S Samanmali participated in the discussions. The meeting was also attended by several officials from ESCAP.
