Sri Lanka and Pakistan are the countries from the South Asia region presenting a Second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on SDGs this year at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).
Under a VNR Twinning Pogramme sponsored by the United Nations, Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP), Sri Lanka and Pakistan are collaborating on their VNRs to exchange best practices and modalities for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda.
As part of this exchange, a nine member multi-stakeholder delegation from Sri Lanka representing the Parliament of Sri Lanka, the Northern Provincial Administration, the Federation of Local Government Authorities, the key government institutions responsible for planning and monitoring (the Prime Minister’s Office, the Sustainable Development Council, the Department of National Planning, the Department of Census and Statistics) and the Ceylon Chambers of Commerce are on a 8-day study tour in Lahore and Islamabad to exchange best practices for VNR preparation and regional partnerships.
The VNR Twinning Study Tour Programme is organized by the UNESCAP in collaboration with the Planning Commission of Pakistan, the Sustainable Development Council and the United Nations Resident Coordinators Offices in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
