Celebrating Excellence in Sustainability Reporting

The 2024 Sustainability Reporting Awards of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) were successfully held this evening recognizing Sri Lankan businesses that report and disclose their environmental, social and economic impact. The event also marked the 20th Sustainability Reporting Awards of ACCA.

The Sustainable Development Council (SDC) is proud to have served on the panel of judges that evaluated the sustainability reports of applicant organizations. The Panel of Judges chaired by Santhosh Jayaram included Chamindry Saparamadu, Anusha Mohotti, Prof. Kennedy Gunawardana, Dr. Nuwan Gunarathne, Dr Naveen Gunawardane, Imran Furkan, Nishantha Hewavithana, Rathnakala Kumaragurunathan, Roshini Fernando, Shaminda Kulamannage and Wei Yuan.

Hayleys PLC emerged the overall winner of the 2024 ACCA Sustainability Reporting Award followed by Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC who emerged the overall runner up.

Organizations were evaluated for their sustainability performance based on the governance processes, controls, procedures, strategies and practices in place to identify, assess, prioritize, manage and monitor sustainability related risks and opportunities as well as the applicable metrics and targets to assess performance in relation to sustainability related risks and opportunities.

SDC appreciates the efforts of ACCA, as the global body of professional accountants, in encouraging Sri Lankan businesses to incorporate sustainability practices into their operations through formal recognition of their efforts and make a valuable contribution to the country’s sustainable development outcomes.
