The Global Compact Network - Sri Lanka (UNGC), JICA Sri Lanka, and the Sustainable Development Council Sri Lanka (SDCSL) discussed a collaborative approach for private sector development to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Sri Lanka.

Global Compact Network - Sri Lanka (UNGC), JICA Sri Lanka/スリランカ事務所 (JICA) and the Sustainable Development Council Sri Lanka (SDCSL) today discussed a collaborative approach towards private sector development for achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Sri Lanka.

The discussions focused on leveraging JICA’s expertise and instruments on private sector investment finance (corporate loans, project finance, private equity investment etc) and technical assistance towards strengthening companies business planning processes as well as strengthening business enabling environment for SDG aligned ESG-centric private enterprises to deliver impact on SDGs, climate change and quality infrastructure.

The meeting took place between Dilhan Fernando, Chairman, UNGC Sri Lanka/ CEO, Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, Dr. Ravi Fernando, Founder, UNGC Sri Lanka/ Member of SDCSL/ Chairman, Global Strategic Corporate Sustainability Pvt Ltd, Rathika de Silva, Executive Director and Network Representative, UNGC Sri Lanka, Tetsuya Yamada, Chief Representative of JICA Sri Lanka and Chamindry Saparamadu, Director General, SDCSL.
