Temple Trees
The inaugural meeting of the Inter-ministerial Steering Committee on Sustainable Development was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on 17th February at the Temple Trees.
The Cabinet of Ministers, by its decision dated 04th January 2021 decided to appoint a high level Steering Committee under the leadership of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, comprising Hon. Ministers/ State Ministers and Secretaries to provide leadership and guidance towards accelerating Sri Lanka’s progress on SDGs.
The discussions focused on formulating a National SDG Road Map and Strategy, providing general guidance to ministries on mainstreaming SDGs into their Action Plans and Programmes, strengthening the statistical capacity of national institutions for generation and compilation of data on SDG indicators to monitor progress and strengthening intra-governmental coordination for SDG acceleration,
The meeting was convened by the Prime Minister’s Office and was attended by Hon. Ministers and Secretaries, who are members of the Steering Committee and officials of the Sustainable Development Council.
