Discussion focused on areas relating to acceleration of SDGs including integrated planning and innovative financing tools for SDGs

Todays discussions between United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Assistant Administrator Kanni Wignaraja and the Foreign Minister Hon. Prof G.L Pieris focused on a number of important areas relating to acceleration of SDGs including integrated planning and innovative financing tools for SDGs.

Ms Wignaraja appreciated the efforts taken by Sri Lanka towards SDGs and highlighted the opportunities for SDG driven planning and financing and that the UN system remains ready to extend support to Sri Lanka in all these areas.

Hon. Prof G.L Pieiris acknowledged and appreciated UNDP s 55 years of partnership with Sri Lanka and stated that Sri Lanka remains committed to achieving its global SDG commitments by the target year 2030. Foreign Secretary , Admiral Prof Jayanath Colombage and other senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, Director General of the Sustainable Development Council Ms Chamindry Saparamadu and UNDP Resident Representative Mr Robert Jukham and other senior officials of UNDP Sri Lanka participated in the discussions.
