Biodiversity Sri Lanka’s 9th annual technical sessions
On the 10th September, Ms Chamindry Saparamadu, Director General of the SDC, took part in a panel discussion as part of Biodiversity Sri Lanka’s 9th annual technical sessions. The discussion focused on sustainable businesses and green financing, which are both key components of the recent Inclusive and Sustainable Business Strategy spearheaded by SDC. Ms Saparamadu outlined the importance of this strategy for the government and how prioritizing environmental and social outcomes can support and even multiply the economic outcomes delivered by local businesses.
The panel discussion also featured a diverse range of experts who discussed the importance of sustainable finance: Mr. Nalin Karunatileka, Vice President (Sustainability & Consulting) at DFCC Bank, Mr. Leel Randeni, Director of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Samantha Kumarasena, CEO of the National Cleaner Production Center, and Mr. Lalith Wasantha, Ministry of Industries. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ranga Pallewella, Climate Change Policy Expert at SWITCH-Asia, and the opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Rohan Pethiyagoda, Director of Biodiversity Sri Lanka.
