The recently launched Strategy to Promote Inclusive and Sustainable Businesses (ISB Strategy) to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Sri Lanka recognizes the challenges that inclusive and sustainable businesses (ISBs) face and identifies opportunities to assist them in scaling and expanding their impact. One of the areas is to support national and international certification, accreditation, or registration schemes for inclusive and sustainable business models. Accreditation would help to formally recognize businesses social and environmental impacts and their contribution towards sustainable development as well enable them to access regional and global markets.

Yesterday, we brainstormed on a locally led- bottom-up approach towards an inclusive and sustainable business verification / accreditation systems learning from the experience and expertise of three dynamic social entrepreneurs, Achala Samaradiwakara Maddumage Maddumage – Co-founder of Good Market Lanka, Selyna Peiris – Co-founder, Selyn Handlooms and Randhula de Silva- Co-founder, Good Life X.

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board, Dr. Sampath Wahala and other industry experts also attended the discussion.
