Executing the vision of driving Sri Lanka towards a sustainably developed nation through education, research and capacity building, the NSBM Green University and the Sustainable Development Council of Sri Lanka entered into a partnership to promote research and education relating to SDGs.

The two institutions entered into a mutually beneficial agreement with the objectives of sharing of expertise and learning resources, facilitating and conducting technical sessions for the academia, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders, initiating collaborative research and publications, open data sharing and conducting educational programmes on sustainable development at all levels of education including in schools. 


The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Vice-Chancellor of the NSBM Green University, Prof. E.A.Weerasinghe and the Director General of the Sustainable Development Council Ms. Chamindry Saparamadu at the NSBM Green University premises on 24th August 2022. NSBM Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Ratnayake, Senior Lecturer Dr. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Lecturer Janith Iddawela and the Assistant Director of the Sustainable Development Council Ms. Sheron Hewawaduge and Sustainable Development Officer Hasith Sandaruwan also participated at the event.

The Sustainable Development Council would an official partner of the International Conference on Business Innovation (ICOBI), organized by the NSBM Green University in November 2022 on the theme: “Accelerating Growth towards SDG Accomplishment”. The Conference focuses on important issues such as responsible business consumption and management, digital transformation and community upgrading, design innovation for sustainable living environment, educational development towards environmental sustainability, policy leadership and reducing disparities towards sustainability, among others.
